Microscopes have particular relevance to Bee Keepers. Bee dissection, disease identification, pollen identification and even bee insemination are the main areas that are relevant to both individual Bee Keepers and also commercial and industrial honey production. Brunel Microscopes has supported the BBKA for many years now and the microscopes we offer comply with the requirements for those attempting the Associations microscopy modules. Because of the laws of physics that govern how light behaves it is not possible to have just one microscope that will meet the needs of all those applications. Pollen grain identification and bee diseases such as Nosema and Acarine need high power or compound microscopes with magnifications up to x1000. However bee dissection and insemination need low power microscopes which are called stereomicroscopes. Our honeybee pages explains this in much more detail with advice on which of our microscopes would be appropriate for each purpose.
