The Brunel Aigo GE-5 is a very portable high quality, high magnification digital microscope. This model features an excellent digital camera that gives a live feed of 1.3M pixels direct to a laptop or PC. The unit is predominantly controlled by the software supplied with the unit and includes four illumination methods, magnifications of up to x540 and a x4 digital zoom facility. In addition the software includes a quite sophisticated measurement capability of the images captured. Power is supplied via the USB computer link.

The principal feature of the GE-5 is its portability which makes it ideal as a laptop unit for field work of all applications. The actual microscope head can also be unclipped from the stand and can be used as a hand held unit using a separate USB connection lead.

There are four distinct illumination systems that are controlled by the computer software. The microscope head has two integral incident LED systems - an outer ring for enhanced relief contrast and an inner ring that provides near ‘vertical’ illumination for examining shiny or  polished surfaces. In addition the unit has flexible goose neck LED light that connects to the base of the unit to allow modelling illumination. The base also includes a transmitted illumination system with diffuser to allow the examination of microscope slides. The GE-5 has two magnifications as standard - x60 and x180, and an additional screw in objective (available as an accessory) allows a magnification of x540.

The GX-5 also has a red laser pointer that identifies the centre of the field of view for easy specimen positioning. A long arm extension is also available as an accessory to allow larger specimens to be examined.
The included software is exceptional allowing full camera exposure and image quality control, stills, video clips, time lapse and through focus 3D imaging.

The USB 2 unit is also capable of a variety of measurement criteria including linear, area and angles that can be superimposed on the images. This is an excellent unit that is highly recommended.
